Erasmus took João to Dubai

In 2002, João Gouveia exchanged the Mechanical Engineering course at the University of Trás-os-Montes for a degree in Informatics at Universidade Portucalense “for an old will”.

After completing his degree, João did a professional internship in Lisbon and later became part of the IBM team until the invitation to collaborate in the management of the “Dubai Autodrome” karting in the United Arab Emirates, an offer that resulted from the internship that he had developed at the Belgian company SMS timing, under Erasmus.

Currently, João is in charge of consulting and creating entertainment spaces with a strong focus on motor sport and, in the short and medium term, his professional goals are in the Middle East. Will you ever return? “Yes, who knows!”

He considers that “innovation, constant learning and the work method” are fundamental factors for a successful career in the area of ​​Informatics and Information Systems.

To recent graduates and professionals on the job who intend to emigrate, João advises an “exhaustive consultation of jobs abroad”, stressing “that the most important thing is for everyone to be aware of their value and to be able to leave and live out of comfort. home “.

He tries to come to Portugal twice a year, but it is not always possible, due to professional commitments: “We try to spend as much time with family and friends but the time never comes”. The birth of daughter Ana was the most exciting moment since she moved to that emirate.

Born in Baião, João Gouveia, 34 years old, has as “hobbies” playing with his daughter, playing soccer, underwater fishing and “karting”. The father is the person who inspires him and has as his life motto “Luck protects the bold”.
